Airport Commission recommends access fee

From The Cresswell (Oregon) Chronicle, August 27, 2008:

By Helen Hollyer

After devoting much of their more-than-two-hour Aug. 19 meeting to a sometimes-contentious discussion of what would constitute an appropriate through-the-fence (TTF) access fee, the four Creswell Airport Commission members present voted unanimously to recommend that the city council set the fee at $35 per month.

The fifth airport commissioner, Gary Ludeke, was unable to attend.

The decision followed a public hearing during which five audience members testified, each proposing a different methodology for setting the TTF access fee. Appearing to ignore both fee options presented by city staff, individual commission members took a variety of approaches toward calculating an appropriate fee.

Forest Hill Airpark is a little different from most airparks. All lots have road frontage on county roads. Forest Hill Airpark has private taxiways behind the lots that lead to the public use runways. An annual fee is charged for the use of the private taxiways. No lots are adjacent to public use runways.
