Anyone have any experience in maintaining grass runways?
Kenneth Melvin of Hillsboro, Oregon, says the folks at Olinger Airpark (OR81) are having repeated problems with their turf runway.
“Despite our best efforts to date, we are unable to prevent the surface from deteriorating and feel that we are not the first to have faced such a problem,” he writes. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Well, I don’t have any direct answers other than suggesting that he contact his county’s agricultural extension office or someone at Oregon State University.
I agree with Melvin that he and his associates aren’t the first ones to have faced such problems and somewhere out there on a residential airpark is an expert who can provide some assistance.
