I came across a somewhat obscure group of FAA documents regarding Marking and Lighting of Unpaved Runways. Enclosed are the first few pages. The total package is about 80 pages. It is fairly complete and includes analysis and construction details.
I found this when I was looking for information on the “Alignment of Elements Systems” type of glidepath indicator system as referenced in the AIM in paragraph 2-1-2e. I have since discovered that this was called a POLOMA (poor man’s optical landing aid).
Since most airportks don’t receive any federal funding, I thought this information might be of interest to other members. If you don’t want to go to the FAA and try to get the report, I’m happy to send a copy to anyone interested if they’d be willing to pay $10 for copying and postage.
